Kedah Paddy Museum - Muzium Padi Kedah

Kedah is famous as the largest rice producer in Malaysia.

During the Lunar New Year (2009), we visited the Kedah Paddy Museum (Muzium Padi Kedah) which was not really far away from my home town in Sungai Petani. It is located just near by Gunung Keriang, Alor Star and surrounded by all paddy field country. This place is known locally as Crystal Mountain because there is natural crystal excavated from the mountain.

The museum is famous for its huge art paintings - a very beautiful 360 degrees scenic view of places around the museum itself! This piece of art is painted on the wall of this museum! It is the biggest piece of painting I have ever seen so far!

Just sit down and enjoy the 360 degree landscape while the platform rotate slowly in circular motion.

Don’t miss this museum if you ever visit Kedah! I never know there is such a place in Kedah until my sister told me recently …

Brought our kids to this museum last Monday all the way Sg Buloh, S’gor (of course we wnet to other places as well).
Our intention is to shoe to them where do rice comes from before they went into our electric rice cooker.
They seem to enjoy it. The giant painting, the bullock cart, all the exhibits and the ‘bajak’ sample where all of them took turn to try it and each and everyone of them got a photo of it.
But the RM2 per camera into the gallery seems ‘unusual’ for us.
Overall, we enjoy the visit and we really appreciate the paddy museum.
