Biggest temple in South East Asia found in Batam

We visited the biggest temple in South East Asia “Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya” (天恩弥勒佛院) at Batam Centre recently.


Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Buddhist Temple is a major attraction in Batam as being one of the biggest Buddhist temples in South-East Asia. Also known as the Laughing Buddha temple, this modern sacred space brings in thousands of visitors daily. Located in Batam Centre the temple hosts one statues of Buddha as well as two other statues of the Goddess of Mercy. There is a souvenirs shop and a restaurant within the temple’s district.

    been searching if that this temple is really the biggest temple in SE asia.. but unfortuantley.. i havent got any materials stating that.. whn i went 2 BAtam.. theu did claim it to be the biggest in SE Asia.. it means. it is larger than the ones in Thailand,
